India will begin their post-World Cup assignments when they take on West Indies in a three-match T20I series from Saturday, August 2. Virat Kohli-led side is in Florida as the US state will host the first 2 T20Is before heading to the West Indies for the remainder of the full-tour which has 3 ODIs and 2 Tests as well.
With Team India beginning preparations in Florida, the immediate focus is on the T20I series. With the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey coming back and MS Dhoni opting out of the series, there is a lot to look forward to in the post-World Cup era.


The focus though shifts to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as the captain and vice-captain will resume battle for T20I supremacy.

Rohit Sharma is on top of the run-scorer's list in T20I cricket as the India opener has 2331 runs from 94 matches at an average of 32.37 while his skipper is third on the list behind Martin Guptill. Virat Kohli has scored 2263 runs from 67 matches at a staggering average of 50.28. Rohit Sharma, who currently holds the record for most runs in T20Is, leads his captain Virat Kohli by 68 runs. Virat Kohli was handed rests for major T20I series in 2018, keeping in mind the India skipper's workload ahead of the World Cup. Kohli played only 9 T20Is in 2018 whereas Rohit played 19. In 2019, Rohit has played 4 while Kohli has featured in 2 T20Is for Team India.
Kohli has an opportunity to upstage Rohit as he is just 68 runs behind his deputy on the list of top run-scorers in T20I cricket.
